How to maintain wire and cable conveyor?

I believe that we are no stranger to wires and cables, but there is still a lot of knowledge about wires and cables. The maintenance of wires and cables is also very important. I believe many people know this, but how to carry out maintenance?

1、 Maintenance cycle of cable conveyor

1) Maintenance and voltage withstand test of 6kV cable shall be conducted at least once a year.

2) Maintenance and insulation test of 380V cable shall be conducted at least once a year.

3) The newly installed cables with joints shall be maintained and tested once after being put into operation for three months.


2、 Contents of cable maintenance

1. Prevent the surface pollution flashover of insulating sleeve of terminal

Clean the dust on the surface of insulating sleeve regularly. The cleaning times shall be increased for the places with serious pollution.

2. Check the appearance of cables installed with high differential pressure

Because the inner sheath of the cable with high level difference is easy to be damaged by fatigue and cracking under the condition of large gravity and vibration, which has a great impact on the use of the cable.

1) If more than 40% of the outer skin has fallen off or the armor layer has been bare rusted, antirust paint shall be applied for protection.

2) If there are cracks, cracks and corrosion on the metal sheath of the cable, temporary treatment shall be made first, and the record shall be recorded, so as to plan maintenance and arrange replacement.

3) If the cable or protective tube is damaged, and if the installation auxiliary device of the cable is missing, it should be repaired immediately.

3. Maintenance of cable terminals

1) If there is heating at the terminal, the power should be cut off.

2) Whether the phase color mark is clear or not. If it is not clear, the phase color shall be marked again.

3) Whether the grounding is good or not. If the grounding is poor, it should be treated again to make the grounding parts meet the standard.

4) Whether the cable name plate is intact and correct. If it is damaged, it should be replaced again.

5) If there are cracks and sand holes in the terminal shell, it should be replaced in time.

4. Load monitoring

1) Regularly measure the load current of each phase of the cable, and analyze the cause of load imbalance.

2) The actual temperature of the cable surface shall be measured regularly to determine whether the cable is overheated to prevent premature aging of the insulation.

3) Visually close the cable terminal and other electrical equipment connection points for overheating. General aluminum electrical equipment is gray white after overheating; copper electrical equipment is light red after overheating.

5. Inspection of tunnels, cable trenches, manholes and pipes

1) Check whether the doors and locks are opened and closed normally, and whether the facilities for preventing small animals from entering the inlets, exits and vents are in good condition. If any problem is found, it must be solved immediately.

2) Check whether there is water seepage and ponding. If there is ponding, remove it immediately and repair the leakage.

3) Check whether the cable, joint and grounding inside are normal.

4) Measure grounding resistance and potential of cable sheath to prevent corrosion. The inspection of the external part of the cable is the same as that in point 2 above.

5) Check whether the cable on the bracket has bruise or scratch, whether the bracket has fallen off, etc. if there is any adverse effect, the cable that can be handled shall be handled in time, and those that cannot be handled shall be recorded and arranged for timely solution.

6) Check whether the ventilation, lighting and waterproof facilities are in good condition, and whether the civil engineering part sinks and cracks. If there are problems, record the defects and deal with them in time.

7) It is an effective and simple method to check whether the drainage pipe is damaged due to ground subsidence by dredging the standby drainage pipe and removing sludge and debris.

Timely maintenance of wires and cables is also responsible for our life and personal safety.
